OBITUARY: Fitz James Trowbridge, 1822-1904,
Fitz James Trowbridge, whose critical illness was reported a few weeks ago, died last Monday night, April 4th, 1904, at seven o'clock. He has been ill most of the winter and his death has been expected for several days.
Mr. Trowbridge was born in Hinsdale, N.Y., February 6, 1822, and had reached the age of eighty-two. He was the fourth of a family of seven, four sons and three daughters. Two of these, Edwin of Sheboygan Falls and Mrs. C.H. Marshall of New York, survive him. At the age of twenty-one he left the old home for the state of Ohio, where he resided for about three years, removing thence to Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. Here he was married October 5, 1845 to Charlotte Andrews, and to them nine children have been born.
He has lived in Mitchell county for some time, and has been a good citizen of this vicinity. Mr. Trowbridge was a man of strong will to command his powers of body and of mind, and the manifestations thereof accompanied his life to the very close. The deceased had been suffering for the past year and a half but has not been seriously ill until this winter.
The funeral services were held at the home yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Ralph, assisted by Rev. Coon, and the body was laid to rest in the village cemetery.
