Funeral services for Mrs. Oscar Hofland, 80, who died at her home in St. Ansgar, Monday, December 28, 1959, were held Wednesday, December 30 at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. Don R. Hamilton officiating.
Minnie T. Hofland was born December 7, 1879 on a farm in St. Ansgar Township, the daughter of Knute and Olena Williams. She was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran church by the Rev. Johan Olson. She attended the Clyde school, always walking from the Williams farm to school.
On August 21, 1901 she was united in marriage to Oscar M. Hofland. To this union two sons were born, Kenneth and Merle. The latter died in infancy in 1908. Mrs. Hofland spent all her life in and around St. Ansgar except for 14 years when they resided in Wisconsin.
Mr. and Mrs. Hofland celebrated their golden wedding anniversary August 21, 1951 at their home. Mrs. Hofland was always a willing worker for her church and anyone who needed help. She died in her sleep December 28, 1959.
Survivors include her husband, Oscar, of St. Ansgar, and son, Kenneth of Austin, Minnesota; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren; also four sisters, Mrs. Ida Gould and Mrs. Gena Palmer of St. Ansgar, Mrs. Maria Springer of Charles City and Mrs. Hattie Delaney of California. Her parents and two sisters preceded her in death.
Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Hamilton in charge of the committal services.
