A memorial service was held at Evergreen Christian Center, Hillsboro, Oregon, on Tuesday, March 26, 2002 for Connie L. Shew, age 55 of Hillsboro, Oregon. Private interment was in Valley Memorial Park, Oregon. She died March 22, 2002 in Hillsboro.

Connie was born on December 17, 1946 in Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa, to Robert and Adeline Schroeder of Osage. She graduated from Riceville High School and received her nurses training at Iowa Methodist School of Nursing, Des Moines. She was a RN, Enterostomal Therapist and Diabetes Educator at Tuality Hospital in Hillsboro.

Connie married Paul Shew on August 23, 1975 and they moved to LaJolla, Califorina. They later moved to Hillsboro, and have lived there for 23 years.

She was a member of Evergreen Christian Center and was active in women's and children's ministries, choir and drama. She was also a member of American Diabetes Association, Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society and American Association of Diabetic Educators.

Those that survive her include her husband, Paul Shew of Hillsboro, Oregon; two daughters and son-in-law, Emily and Kevin Hughes and Elizabeth Shew all of Hillsboro, Oregon; her parents, Robert and Adeline Schroeder, Osage, Iowa; two sisters, Toni Friederich (Rod) of Alta Vista, Iowa, and Lois Hutton (Bob) of LeSueur, Minnesota; a brother Roger (Deb) Schroeder of Elma, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews, anuts, uncles and cousins.

Tuality Community Hospital is in the process of establishing a memorial for enterostomal scholarship training.

HILLSBORO, Ore. - Connie L. Schroeder Shew, 55, of Hillsboro, died March 22, 2002, in Hillsboro, Ore.

Memorial services were held on March 26, 2002, at Evergreen Christian Center. Private interment was in Valley Memorial Park.

Mrs. Shew was born Dec. 17, 1946, in Osage, Iowa, and graduated from Riceville, Iowa, High School.

On Aug. 23, 1975, she married Paul Shew in LaJolla, Calif. They moved to Hillsboro, Ore., 23 years ago. Mrs. Shew received training as a nurse at Iowa Methodist Hospital and was a registered nurse, enterostomal therapist and diabetic educator at Tuality Community Hospital.

She was a member of Evergreen Christian Center and was active in women's and children's ministries, choir and drama. Mrs. Shew also was a member of the American Diabetes Association, Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society and American Association of Diabetic Educators. She enjoyed gardening and people.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Shew, of Hillsboro, Ore.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Emily and Kevin Hughes and Elizabeth Shew, all of Hillsboro, Ore.; her parents, Robert and Adeline Schroeder, of Osage; two sisters, Toni (Rod) Friederich, of Alta Vista, and Lois (Bob) Hutton, of LeSueur, Minn.; a brother, Roger (Deb) Schroeder, of Elma; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Evergreen Christian Center, 4400 N.W. Glencoe Road, Hillsboro, OR. 97124. The church will distribute half to Church ministries and half to Tuality Community Hospital who is establishing Enterostomal Therapy Scholarships for nurses to carry on Connie's work.

Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
