OSAGE, IOWA - Dale D. (Pete) Kubicek, 83, of Osage, passed away Saturday (May 1, 2010) at the Faith Lutheran Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Pete was the son of John and Mary Kubicek. He was born on March 13, 1927 in McIntire, Iowa. He joined the Marines at the age of 17 and served two years for our country during World War II.

On April 15, 1950, Pete was united in marriage to Dona Green at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. To this union, three children were born.

In 1954 Pete started a drywall and painting business that he operated until his retirement in 1992.

He enjoyed collecting arrowheads, gardening, hunting mushrooms, jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with family.

Dale is survived by his wife, Dona; his children, Clay (Jeanne) Kubicek of Joplin, Missouri, and Clare (Richard) Smith of Clovis, California; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Olive Ellis, of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Kubicek; a son, Kent, three brothers, and a sister.

Dale D. (Pete) Kubicek, 83, of Osage, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Faith Lutheran Home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 14 at 10 a.m. at the New Haven Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon in honor of Pete at the American Legion Hall at 11:00.
