Merle Rohde [1939-1992]

Funeral services for Merle Rohde, 52, who died Feb. 26, 1992 at Osage, were held Saturday, Feb 29 at the Mona Lutheran Church, Mona, with the Rev. Dan Behnke officiating.

Merle Rohde was born to Vera Sumner and Merten Rohde June 21, 1939, in Austin, Minnesota. The family moved to South Dakota where he attended school and worked various jobs. He served in the Army from 1957-1958.

He married Wanda Longland February 14, 1959. They had four children, Marvin, Mary, Brenda and Roger. He moved back to Mona in 1974 where he was a truck driver.

Merle and Karen Zellmer Berry were married Nov. 9, 1974. They had two sons, Andy and Corey.

Mr. Rohde is survived by his wife, Karen, and six children, Andy and Corey at home; Marvin Rohde, Mona; Mary Olson, Langford, South Dakota; Brenda Schoenfelder, Chapman, Nebraska; Roger Rohde of Webster, South Dakota; two step sons, Randy Berry of Northwood and Chad Berry of Hanford, CA; nine grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; one sister, Twyla Fortin of Watertown, SD, and one brother, Richard Rohde, Sibley.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Burial was in the Webster Cemetery, Webster, SD.

Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, was in charge of arrangements.
