Nancy Jane "Jennie" (Buckley) Aldrich (1843 - 1874)

Nancy Jane "Jennie" Buckley was born in Ohio in 1843, the daughter of Jonathan Buckley and Lucinda Jane Andress Buckley.

She married Nehemiah Aldrich on May 27, 1862 at Putnam, Fayette County Iowa. Nancy Jane and Nehemiah had four children: Charles Aldrich born Sept. 17, 1863, Emily Jane Aldrich born 1866, Mary Belle "Mamie" Aldrich born June 15 1868, and Ella Maud Aldrich born October 31, 1871.

Relatives of the Aldrich's said that Charles was "lost at sea" in the 1890's and that he once had a headstone in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mitchell, Iowa, but that it was destroyed years later.

Jennie passed away at the young age of 31 years and 12 days. Her remaining children: Emily, Mary Belle and Ella were raised by their maternal grandmother, Lucinda Jane Andress (Erie County Ohio).

Nehemiah Aldrich later remarried Matilda Smith and moved to Monona County in northeast Iowa.

Mary Belle "Mamie" was born in South Dakota and married Herbert Humiston and lived and died in Amherst, Lorain County Ohio. Ella Maud Aldrich was born in Mitchell County Iowa and married a Mr. Lyon.
