OSAGE, IOWA - Mrs. William Bittenbender, former Osage resident for many years who was here from her more recent home in Michigan for a family reunion, died suddenly at 4:30 a. m. at the home of a sister, Mrs. Harvey Richards. Complications following surgical treatment for goitre are believed to have caused the death.
Mrs. Bittenbender called Mrs. Richards and; died just as tbs latter reached her, murmuring a farewell to her family. She was 72 years old.
Surviving besides Mrs. Richards is another sister, Mrs. P. C. Kantz, also here for-the reunion, and a brother, Joseph Hartley, Three Rivers, Mich. There is a son, Harry Bittenbender, now traveling on business in New Jersey, and three grandchildren. Her husband died about a year ago.
Mrs. Bittenbender had spent most of her mature life in Osage. but in the last few years had resided elsewhere. She recently had been at the home of her son at Constantine, near Kalamazoo, Mich. Burial will be there, beside the grave of her husband. There will be a service here Wednesday, time and place to be decided. The body was taken to Shelledy Funeral home.
