Anna Helena "Lena" (Tollefson) Halvorson, 1884-1969

Mrs. Lena Halvorson Funeral Held First Lutheran

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna H. (Lena) Halvorson, 84, who died Friday, March 28, [1969] at the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar, were held Monday, March 31, at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. Don Comnick officiating.

Lena Halvorson was born August 28, 1884, at St. Ansgar, the daughter of Theodore and Liev (Rust) Tollefson. She was baptized and confirmed by the Rev. Johan Olsen in the First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar.

On October 14, 1908, she was united in marriage to George Halvorson, by the Rev. M. E. Waldeland of the First Lutheran church. They farmed until the fall of 1939 when they retired and moved into St. Ansgar. In October of 1958, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Halvorson taught Sunday School for a number of years and was a faithful and willing worker for her church and church organizations until her health wouldn't permit it any longer. She was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother and always a helpful and true friend to all.

Her husband preceded her in death in January of 1961. She is survived by her four children: Mrs. Alvin (Lenore) Grell, Mason City; Avery, of St. Ansgar; Alfred of Plainview, Minn.; and Mrs. Lloyd (Ruth) Kroneman of St. Ansgar. Also surviving are her nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Comnick in charge of the committal service.
