OBITUARY: George Grossman Jr., 1918-1934

George Grossman Jr.
Found Dead Friday

The youngest son of the George Grossmans, living East of Stacyville, was found dead Friday [Aug. 31, 1934] evening about 6 o'clock, with his neck broken.

George Jr., 13**, had gone to the barn to start the chores, and when he did not appear later a search was made, and he was found lying in an alley-way in the barn with his neck broken. It is thought that possible he fell through a hay shoot from the haymow.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday morning.

[George was the son of George Grossman Sr., and Theresa Winter Grossman.

The Sacred Heart Cemetery (Meyer) listing on IaGenWeb/Mitchell shows:

GROSSMAN, George, Jr. -- Dec. 4, 1918 -- Aug. 8,** 1934

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**NOTE: The various sources disagree about his age and death date.

According to the cemetery, he would be 15 years old, not 16 or 13.

But the cemetery seems to be in error about the date of the death/burial.
