Carl G. Nelson, 1898-1964
Funeral services for Carl Nelson, 66, rural Osage farmer were held at Rock Creek Lutheran church near Osage last Thursday. The Rev. Donald Berg conducted the service and burial was at Rock Creek cemetery.
Mr. Nelson died September 14, 1964 at Mitchell County Memorial hospital in Osage. He had been in failing health the past several months.
Carl G. Nelson was born in Rock Township, rural Osage on June 17, 1898 to Erik Nelson and Inger Syverud Nelson. He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Creek Lutheran church, where he remained a lifelong member.
He attended the rural school of Rock Township and the Cedar Valley seminary in Osage. He lived all of his life on the Nelson homestead in Rock Township.
He was united in marriage to Clara Arno on May 12, 1920. One son, Carroll, was born to this union.
Surviving are his widow, Clara and one son, Carroll, at home. Also surviving are one brother, Theodore Nelson of Rockford and one sister, Mrs. Mary Christianson of Osage.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Gus (Emma) Krogstad and Mrs. O. (Clara) Leverson.
