Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 3, 2001, 1:30 p.m at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, for Victor Nehls, age 82, of Osage, with Father Philip Recker of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, officiating.

Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Osage. Victor died Monday, October 1, 2001 at the Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa in Mason City.

Victor was born Nov. 17, 1918 near Marble Rock, Floyd County, the son of Arthur and Anna (Reis) Nehls. He married Lorraine Cary in 1940 and they lived near Charles City later moving to Osage. Lorraine died in 1977. Later he married Katherine (Mathiesen) Jeffries in 1980 and they lived in Osage. Katherine died in 1992.

He operated the Monarch Feed Mill in Osage. He later worked for L.R. Falk Construction in St. Ansgar until his retirement.

Victor enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid sports fan, following Osage High School, the Minnesota Hawkeyes and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two wives, Lorraine and Katherine; one brother, Raymond Nehls.

Those that survive him include two sons, Gary Nehls and wife, Linda of Shawnee, Kansas and children, Tara Walker and her children Chelsea and Logan, and Christopher Nehls and son Matthew; Michael Nehls of Osage and his children, Timothy and Hope; one step-son, Rex Jeffries of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister, Dorothy Wright of Charles City; one brother, Clair Nehls of Charles City; numerous nieces and nephews.

OSAGE, IOWA - Victor Nehls, 82, died Monday (Oct. 1, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, 702 State St., Osage, with the Rev. Philip Recker of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Osage.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Victor was born on November 17, 1918, near Marble Rock in Floyd County, the son of Arthur and Anna (Reis) Nehls.

He married Lorraine Cary in 1940, and they lived near Charles City, later moving to Osage. Lorraine died in 1977.

Later he married Katherine (Matheson) Jeffries in 1980, and they lived in Osage. Katherine died in 1992.
