Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Halvorson, 75, who died September 15, 1975 at Naeve hospital in Albert Lea, Minn., were held September 18 at the Heitner Funeral chapel in Wells, Minn. at the First Lutheran church here with the Rev. Burton Schwerin officiating.
Florence Peterson was born January 2, 1900 in Forest City, the daughter of John and Marie Peterson. She lived in St. Ansgar for many years, then in Lawton, Okla. for five years, and then moved to Wells, Minn. in 1964. She had been a resident of St. John's Lutheran Home in Albert Lea since May 1974.
She married Elmer Halvorson of St. Ansgar June 28, 1925. Two children were born to them. Through the years Mrs. Halvorson worked as secretary in the Lutheran Synod office in St. Ansgar; City librarian in St. Ansgar; clerk in a department store; local news reporter for the St. Ansgar Enterprise and reporter for the Wells, Minn. Mirror newspaper. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran church in Wells, the Love Circle, the Senior Citizens of Wells, Senior Citizens of Good Shepherd church and the Faribault County ARC, the hospital auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Mrs. Halvorson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer in 1964; one brother, Alfred and a sister, Mary Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. John (Joann) Evans of Houston, Tex.; her son, John of Reno, Nev.; three sisters, Mrs. Cliff (Joy) Rasmus of Wells, Minn.; Mrs. Harry (Bertina) Thompson of Forest City; Mrs. Geneva Wilson of Worthington, Minn.; one brother, Henry Scherva of Austin; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Scherwin in charge of the committal services.
