Funeral services for Miss Hilma Haugen, 84, of St. Ansgar, who died at the Good Samaritan Center here June 19, 1984 were held Thursday, June 21 at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thomas Hughes officiating.
Hilma Mildred Haugen, the daughter of Knute and Bertha Elise Troem Haugen, was born January 4, 1900 in Vernon Township, Dodge County, Minn.
She was baptized at West St. Olaf Lutheran church, rural Kasson, Minn.
In 1907 as a young girl she moved with her parents, brother and sisters to Otranto Township in Mitchell county, Iowa. In 1914 she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Lyle, Minn.
She attended Mona grade school and graduated from the Luther Academy in Albert Lea, Minn. She then worked for the People Building and Loan Company in Albert Lea, Minn.
From 1926 through 1960 she was employed at Northern States Utilities as a commercial and personal secretary at Pine City, Minn.
When she retired she moved to Rochester, Minn. and remained there until 1973 when her health started to fail and she came to St. Ansgar and made her home with her sister, Esther.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Alfred, sisters, Ella, Mrs. Ed Fossey, Effie, Helen and Helga.
Survivors include three sisters, Esther Fossey, Mrs. Otto Fossey, St. Ansgar, Josephine Haugen, Sacremento, Calif. and Mrs. Albert (Rikka) Olson of Osage; several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery in rural Mona.
