BRANDAU, Anna M. (Ahrens) 1885-1982

Anna M. Brandau, 97, died December 31, 1982, at the Nora Springs Manor. Services were held Monday, January 3, 1983 at Eden Presbyterian Church of rural Rudd, Iowa. The Rev. John Bates, church pastor, officiated. Burial was made in the Eden Presbyterian cemetery.

Anna Maria Ahrens was born November 7, 1885 in Hermann, Missouri, to Edward and Katharina (Philipp) Ahrens. She received her education in Missouri, moving to Iowa in the early 1900's.

She was married to George Frederick Brandau on December 12, 1912. They established their home in the farm northeast of Rudd. They had three sons: Arthur, who died in infancy, Wilbert (Webb) and George, both of rural Rudd. Her husband died February 15, 1923. In 1946 she moved to Nora Springs. Since 1976 she has been a resident of the local nursing home.

Through the years she has been an active member of Eden Presbyterian Church, serving many years as a Sunday School teacher and taking an active part in the women's organization of the church.

Besides her husband and infant son, her parents, three brothers, and three sisters preceded her in death.

Survivors include her two sons, Wilbert and George, twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
