MRS. SARAH EASTMAN
DIED AT MCINTIRE AT
ADVANCED AGE OF 81

Mrs. Sarah Eastman, who had lived in the McIntire vicinity for 65 years, died at her home there on Sunday at the age of 81 years.

Mrs. Eastman was born in Spring Valley, Wisconsin, and came to McIntire with her parents when 16 years of age, finishing her education there.

Her marriage to Solon Eastman took place at McIntire, and they settled on a farm nearby.

Of their children, two survive: Amos of San Diego, Calif., and Durwood, of McIntire.

In spite of her advanced age, Mrs. Eastman lived in her own home, and until lately was able to care for it herself.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at her home at McIntire, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Garrett, pastor of the Riceville Methodist church, and burial was made in the Riverside cemetery, Riceville.

Sarah (Workman) Eastman, 1854-1936

Sarah Workman was born in Spring Valley, Rock County, Wisconsin, June 20, 1854. When she was four years old, her parents were killed in an accident, and she made her home with her sister, Kate. When she was 16, a brother came to Riceville to the home of their sister, Mrs. Barbara Shrode.

Mrs. Ethel Elwood, Bert and Jesse, with their father, preceded her in death.

On January 9, 1887, during the ministry of the Rev. L.S. Cooley, she united with the Methodist church of McIntire, Iowa.

Funeral services were held from the late home, southwest of McIntire, Wednesday, April 22, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. F.M. Garrett. Burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery at Riceville.
