Lorene M. Eastman

Funeral services for Lorene Mae (Cockrum) Eastman, age 76 of North Mankato, Minnesota, were held Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with The Reverend Forrest Miller officiating. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery in Osage, Iowa.

She died Friday, February 13, 2004 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato, Minnesota.

Lorene was born July 10, 1927 in Osage, Iowa, to Charley and Della (Miller) Cockrum. She was married to Herbert Blaine Eastman on June 9, 1945 in Osage. In 1950 the family moved to Austin, Minnesota, when Herbert took employment with Hormel Foods. Lorene spent her early years as a nursing assistant at St. Olaf Hospital and several nursing homes in Austin. She remembered those times fondly throughout her life. Later she and Herbert owned and operated two diet centers in Osage and Decorah, Iowa.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, son Kevin, two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her husband Herbert Eastman of North Mankato, Minnesota, daughters and sons-in-law Sandra and Tim Schoenwetter of Stewartville, Minnesota, Jane E. Eastman and Phillip L. Henry of North Mankato, Minnesota, sister Nordicia Tobler of Kansas City, Kansas, nieces and nephews.
