Mrs. Ragnild O. Grovo, whose maiden name was Ragnild Kirkebon, daughter of Ole T. Kirkebon and Kari Kirkebon, was born at Kirkebon, Norway, Europe, June 21st, 1831.
She was baptized the same year in the Hemsedal parish and in 1847 was confirmed in the Hemsedal Church.
In 1857 they emigrated to America. They came first to Lansing. After a brief stay they went to Decorah, Iowa, and to Adams, Minn. After remaining for a short time in these places, they came to St. Ansgar, Iowa.
On November 13, she was married to Mr. Ole O. Grovo. They settled on the Grovo Homestead soon after.
Their marriage was blessed with seven children, whose names are as follows: Olaus O. Grovo; Anders O. Grovo; Mrs. Gurine M. Pederson, who died at Fargo, North Dakota in 1886; Mrs. Andrew T. Olsen, Erie, Minnesota; Mrs. Louis A. Olsen; Theodore O. Grovo, St. Ansgar, Iowa, and Edward O. Grovo, Mona, Iowa.
Mrs. Grovo had been in good general health. She had been showing the weakness of old age within the last year. She died May 28th, following an attack of erysipelas during which she sufffered an attack of pneumonia.
Her husband preceded her in death July 28th, 1901.
She is survived by her six children above mentioned, by fourteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Present at the funeral from away were Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Olsen, Erie, Minnesota, and P.O. Brenna and family, Osage, Iowa.
The funeral was held Tuesday, May 31st, and was conducted by Rev. M.E. Waldeland at the First Lutheran Church. Her remains were laid to rest at the Evergreen cemetery north of St. Ansgar.
