ST. ANSGAR - Oris Tilfred Golberg, 99, of St. Ansgar, died on Thursday (Nov. 22, 2001) at the Good Samaritan Center in St.Ansgar.

His funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle, Minn., with the Rev. Barbara Finley-Shea officiating. Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar.

Oris Tilfred Golberg, son of Olaf and Andrena (Austinson) Golberg, was born June 22, 1902, on a farm near Lyle, Minn., at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church in rural Lyle and confirmed his faith at the age of 14 on June 3, 1917, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle.

As a young man, Oris played baseball and continued his love of the game as a Minnesota Twins fan.

On March 25, 1933, Oris was married to Clara Nelson at the Lyle Parsonage. This union was blessed with three children, twin sons, Nels and Olaf, and a daughter, Karen. As a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Lyle, he served on the Board of Trustees and was active in the Lutheran Brotherhood. He was a member of the Mona School Board and served as an election official for Otranto Township.

His adult life was spent on the farm south of Lyle, where he raised his family, did general trucking and farmed until 1975, when he and his wife, Clara, retired to the Lincoln Apartments in Osage.

Realizing the need for additional assistance in their daily needs, they made the move to the Worth Living Center in St. Ansgar in September 1987. Because of failing health, Oris entered the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar in March 1997, where he passed away on Thursday (Nov. 22, 2001) .

Oris was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, on Feb. 26, 1995; his parents; two brothers, Johnel and Harvey; and one grandson, Steven Golberg.

He is survived by his sons, Olaf and wife, Florence, of Tempe, Ariz., and Nels and wife, Shirley, of St. Ansgar; daughter, Karen Cook and husband, Robert, of Charles City; grandchildren, Kathy Golberg, of San Francisco, Lisa Dockstader and husband, John, of St.Ansgar, Brent Golberg and wife, Karla, of Owatonna, Minn., and Wendy Patterson and husband, Chris, of St. Ansgar; many great-grandchildren, Zachary and Derick Helgeson, Alison Golberg, of Owatonna, Minn., and Garrett and Alexandra Patterson, of St. Ansgar; also one niece, nephews and cousins.

In Memory of the Dad who was more admired, more loved and appreciated with every passing year.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 26, 2001 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Lyle, Minnesota, for Oris Tilfred Golberg, age 99, of St. Ansgar. Rev. Barbara Finley-Shea officiated.
