OSAGE, IOWA — Funeral services for W. H. Davis, who died Thursday in a Mason City hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Shelley funeral home here. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Willis Davis Funeral Will Be Held Saturday
OSAGE, IOWA - Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday for Willis Davis, 78, at Shellady's Funeral Home with the Rev. Stiles Lessly officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar East Town cemetery. Mr. Willis, former deputy county sheriff, died Wednesday afternoon at a Mason City hospital, having submitted to surgery the prior week.
Willis Davis was born, April 23, 1865, near Texas, Michigan, in Kalamazoo county, son of Henry C. and Frances Miller Davis. As a young child, he accompanied his parents to a farm near Otranto where he lived to manhood. He attended the Otranto public schools and the Cedar Valley Seminary in Osage.
In 1886 he married Delia Fletcher of Otranto Three children were born, all of whom survive. After living on the home farm near Otranto for 27 years, they moved to Osage, where he served for 12 years as Mitchell county deputy sheriff and for 11 years as adjuster for the Mitchell County Mutual Insurance Company.
Surviving are his wife, Delia Fletcher Davis, a son, Harvey A. Davis of Crete, Nebraska; two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Kampmeier, Nashville, Tennessee, and Mrs. Pauline Adams of New York. One sister, Deborah of Boise, Idaho, and two grandchildren, Harvey C. Davis of Orient, and Joan Kampmeier of Nashville, Tennessee.

AT MASON CITY
ILL LONG TIMEWillis Henry Davis, the son of Hency C. and Frances Miller Davis, was born on April 23, 1865, at Texas, Michigan. He was the second in a family of seven children. He passed away at the Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa, on October 27, 1943, following a brief illness. He has been in failing health for some years, but had kept at his occupation until a week before his death.
As a small boy he came with his parents to Mitchell County and settled on a farm near Otranto. There he attended school and grew up to young manhood. In his youth he came to Osage and attended the Cedar Valley Seminary.
On December 23, 1886, he was married to Delia Fletcher of Otranto, who he had known since childhood. They were married in Osage by the Rev. Mr. Thayer, pastor of the Universalist church.
They established their home on the farm on which he was reared and there they lived for twenty-seven years; three children were born to this union. They then moved to Osage. For 12 years Mr. Davis served as deputy sheriff under A. L. Hungerford, and for the past 11 years he has been an adjuster for the Mitchell County Farmers Mutual Insurance Co.
Many years ago he united with the Universalist Church of Osage and continued as a faithful member until his death. He was a Christian gentleman, a kind neighbor, faithful in any work he undertook, and fair in all his dealings. His life was long, and his years were well spent.
He is survived by his wife; is three children -- Harvey A., of Crete, Nebraska, Mrs. Blanche Kampmeier, Nashville, Tennessee, and Mrs. Pauline Adams, New York, New York. There are also two grandchildren, Harvey C. Davis, Orient, Iowa, and Joan Kampmeier, of Nashville, Tennessee.
Also he leaves one sister at Boise, Idaho.
Funeral arrangements were not complete at the time of going to press.
