OSAGE, IOWA — A former Osage woman, Hulda Trautmann, 51*, was found dead near her home in Vancouver, Washington, Monday night.

The Associated Press reported that Mrs. Trautmann, widow, was slain by a 21-year old youth when she was out taking a Lutheran Church census

Donald Pribbernow,being held by Vancouver police, said he bludgeoned and stabbed the woman "while she was talking religion to me." He offered no further explanation.

The youth told of taking the body from the house and dumping it along a rural road near Vancouver. The youth's mother who was not at home at the time, called police when she found her son gone and noticed blood on the floor.

The former Hulda Gemaehlich, was the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. John Gemaehlich. He was at one time the pastor of St. John Lutheran Church east of Grafton.

Two brothers and a sister still living in Osage, are Andrew and R. A. Gemaehlich and Mrs. Ralph Loren. They received word of the death Tuesday and are leaving Wednesday for Vancouver.

Other survivors are her mother, Mathilda Gemaehlich Washington; two sons, Donald at home; Paul, a student in Nebraska; four more brothers and a sister.

Oregon rites for Mrs. Trautmann, murder victim

OSAGE, IOWA — Funeral services will be held in Portland, Oregon, Friday and in Medford, Oregon, Monday, for Mrs. Hulda Trautmann, age 49. Burial will be in Medford.

Mrs. Trautmann, who had been a parish worker for the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church the last year, was killed Monday night by a 21-year-old man while taking a church census.

Donald Pribbenow, being held by Vancouver police, said he, "bludgeoned and stabbed the woman while she was talking religion to me." He offered no further explanation.

Born in Bessie, Oklahoma, August 31, 1911, she was the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. John Gemaehlich. Her father served as pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, east of Grafton, from 1920 to 1926. She was married to Theodore Trautmann in Russell, Kansas, in 1935. They lived in Everett, Washington, until his death five years ago, when she moved to Portland, Oregon.

Surviving are her mother, Mathilda Gemaehlich, Medford, Oregon; two sons, Donald, at home; Paul, a college student in Nebraska; six brothers, John Gemaehlich, Medford; Berthold, Los Angeles; Simon, Dennison, Texas; Emil, Cordell, Oklahoma; R. A. [Rudolph] Gemaehlich and Andrew, Osage; two sisters, Mrs. Ed (Agnes) Rupp, Medford; Mrs. Ralph (Hattie) Lorenz, Osage.
