Mrs. John (Barbra) Gunderson, a pioneer resident of St. Ansgar, passed away Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter Larson, near Carpenter.
Mrs. Gunderson had a stroke in December 1929 and since then had been an invalid. A week ago last Sunday she suffered another stroke, followed by bronchial pneumonia, to which she succumbed.
Mrs. Gunderson was a native of Norway and came to Iowa 66 years ago. She had the distinction of being the first confirmant of the First Lutheran Church. She was married to John Gunderson in St. Ansgar and farmed with him in this vicinity until illness overtook her. She was 79 at the time of her death.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at one o'clock at the Peter Larson home, followed by services at the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. The Rev. O.M. Langehough of Lyle will officiate.
