Lyman Alfred Montgomery, 1866-1906

Lyman Alfred Montgomery was born in Lowell, Wisconsin, February 1st. 1866.

He died at Santa Ana, California, March 9, 1906.

He came to Osage, Iowa, with his father in 1878, where he lived until 1885, when he went to Texas to live, and in 1893 was married to Miss Susan Kate Mercer at LaPlanta, Texas. They came to Osage and remained until September, 1904, when they returned to Texas and lived at Herford, at which place he was postmaster until he went with his family to Santa Ana, California, in 1902, for their health.

Last summer he had a operation for a tumor in the head, but it proved to be a cancer.

He suffered long and patiently. On the 26th of January his father went to help care for him. He leaves a wife and five children, four girls and one boy, the oldest, being about twelve years old. Beside these, a father, A.J. Montgomery of Osage, and a sister, Mrs. Geo. F. Stillman of Stony Point, Canada.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows' lodge at Herford, Texas, and was buried at Santa Ana, California, March 10th, 1906.
