Mrs. A. C. Groth rites Monday at St. Ansgar
ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Mrs. Anton C. Groth, 83, died Thursday at the Deaconess Hospital, Minneapolis. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church here. The Rev. Don Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, with Schroeder & Houg Funeral Home in charge.
Surviving are four sons: Conrad, St. Ansgar; Albin, Mequon, Wis.; Norris and Claire, Minneapolis; a daughter, Mrs. Cliff (Ardella) Warrington, St. Ansgar; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters; and four brothers.

Funeral services for Mrs. Anton C. Groth, 83, were held Monday, April 17, 1961 at the First Lutheran Church here with the Rev. Don R. Hamilton, officiating. Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery.
Ida B. Gunderson Groth, daughter of John and Barbra Thorson Gunderson was born January 11, 1878 on a farm northwest of St. Ansgar. She was baptized and confirmed by the Rev. Johan Olsen at the First Lutheran Church of St. Ansgar of which she was a life long member.
She received her early education in rural schools in Newburg and Otranto Townships. On February 17, 1904 she was united in marriage with Anton C. Groth. Their home was blessed with seven children, five of whom survive; Conrad of St. Ansgar, Albin of Mequon, Wisconsin, Claire and Norris of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Ardella (Mrs. Clifford Warrington) of St. Ansgar; also ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Other survivors include two sisters; Mrs. Ella Larson, St. Ansgar and Mrs. Mary Gaarder of Washington, D.C. and four brothers; George Gunderson of St. Ansgar, Knut Gunderson of Clear Lake, Iowa, Gilbert Gunderson of Fort Macleod, Alberta, Canada and Julius Gunderson of Terrace, British Columbia, Canada; many nephews. Her husband, two sons, her parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Groth was a life long resident of this community, always active and interested in it, and the work of her church, a life long member of the First Lutheran Ladies Aid, and a member of the Deborah Circle and also the Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary at the time of her death.
Mr. and Mrs. Groth had the privilege of observing their golden wedding February 17, 1954. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, a faithful friend, who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mrs. Groth has been in failing health for the past six years and died April 13, 1961 in the Lutheran Deaconness Hospital, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
