OBITUARY: Ilene G. Martin

Funeral services were held for Ilene G. Martin, age 87, of Riceville on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 11 am at the Saratoga Presbyterian Church in Saratoga, Iowa with the Reverend Tim Sir officiating. Interment will be at a later date.

Ilene passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2002, at the Riceville Community Rest Home in Riceville.

Ilene was born in Burr Oak Township in rural Mitchell County on September 27, 1914 to Roy and Bessie Gay Bird. She was united in marriage to Ted Otis Martin. She worked in the Riceville United States Post Office and at the Chatterbox Cafe in Riceville.

Ilene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ted, three brothers and her twin sister.

Her survivors include one son Dr. Lynn Martin and his wife Lynette of Monroe, MI, grandchildren, Tina Major and her husband Greg of Garden City, Michigan, and Ilene's great-grandchildren Brandon Marr of Monroe, MI and Joshua Marr who is in the U.S. Navy. A grandson Jim Martin and his wife Candy of Monroe, Michigan, and Ilene's great-grandchildren Amber and Krystal both at home with their parents.
