OBITUARY: Jon Everet Markham, 1943-2004

Jon Everet Markham, 60, of Minneapolis, died of natural causes on Feb. 12, 2004, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He was born Oct. 17, 1943, in Osage, Iowa, to Kenneth and Agnes (Simonson) Markham.

He was baptized at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa, and confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lyle.

He graduated from Lyle High School in 1961. He served in the United States Air Force for four years. He attended Rochester Community College and Mankato State University before moving to Minneapolis where he had been employed by the Minneapolis Downtown YMCA. He enjoyed sports and collecting baseball cards.

He is survived by his mother, Agnes Markham, Blooming Prairie; two sisters: Ginny (David) Haney, Longmont, Colo.; Beth (Russel) Nelson, Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Jerry Markham, Blooming Prairie; niece and nephew, aunt and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth; grandparents; two uncles and an aunt.

Services: 11:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at First Lutheran Church, Blooming Prairie, with the Rev. Richard Hegal officiating. Flag presentation by Blooming Prairie VFW Post #878 and American Legion Post #52.

Funeral Home: Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home.

Interment will be at a later date.
