Funeral services for Marius P. Gerding, 89, who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center February 5, 1975, were held February 10, 1975 at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. S. Engelstad officiating.

Marius Pederson Gerding was born December 16, 1885 in Jylland, Denmark, the son of Rasmus and Maren (Bee) Gerding.

In 1911 he was united in marriage to Karen Larsen in Denmark. In 1915 the Gerdings came to the United States where they made their home on a farm near St. Ansgar. In 1946, Mr. Gerding retired from farming and moved to St. Ansgar. He remained a longtime member of First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar. He and his wife had been residents of the Good Samaritan Center here for the past several years.

Mr. Gerding is survived by his wife, Karen, and a sister in Denmark. Preceding him in death were his parents, four sisters and two brothers.

Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Engelstad in charge of the committal services.
