Scott Christopher Meyer, 1969-2001

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2001 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, for Scott Christopher Meyer, age 32, of the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona and formerly of Osage. Rev. Dennis Hanson and Rev. Roy Ott will officiate. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery with military funeral honors conducted by the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage and will continue one hour before services at the church. Scott died Thursday, October 18, 2001 at Saint Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, Nevada, due to injuries sustained in a fall.

Scott was born January 1, 1969 in Osage. He attended school in Osage and graduated from Osage High School in 1987. While in school, he enjoyed football, helping his dad on the farm and spending time with friends.

In September 1987, he joined the United States Air Force. Technical Sergeant Scott Meyer was a Flight Line Crew Chief assigned to the 354th Fighter Squadron at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, AZ. Scott enjoyed his Air Force work and all the friends he made. Through the Air Force he had seen and visited 22 countries in the World. Overseas he had been stationed in Turkey, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Japan. His decorations include the following; A.F. Commendation Medal, A.F. Outstanding Unite Award (3 Devices), A.F. Good Conduct Medal (3 Devices), National Defense Service Medal, Southwest-Asia Service Medal (1 Device), A.F. Overseas Short Tour Ribbon (1 Device), A.F. Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, A.F. Longevity Service Award Ribbon (2 Devices), NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal.

Preceding him in death were his grandmothers, Ruth Onken and Clarice Hein.

Those that survive him include his parents, Gloria and Russell Hein of Little Cedar; three sisters, DeAnna Meyer of San Antonio, Texas, Amy Meyer and her fiance Eric Foth of Waterloo, Iowa, and Mindy Whitmer and her husband, Dan of Platte City, Missouri; one brother, Mike Hein and his wife, Ann of Valley, Nebraska; two grandfathers, Edwin Hein of Osage and James Onken and wife, Jean of Osage; his fiancee, Trish Woolsey of Tucson, Arizona; six nieces, several aunts and cousins.
