Theodore Martin Christianson, 1881-1964

Funeral services for Ted Christianson, 82, of rural Osage were held Tuesday afternoon at Rock Creek Lutheran church. Mr. Christianson died Saturday at Mitchell County Memorial hospital following a critical illness of only a few hours. He had been in failing health, and his death was the result of a stroke.

The Rev. John Quam, church pastor, was in charge of the services and arrangements were by C.R. Champion and Sons. Burial was in the Rock Creek cemetery.

Theodore Martin Christianson was born in Cedar Township, Mitchell County on September 14, 1881, the son of Andrew and Johanna Christianson. He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, where he remained a lifelong member.

He received his education in the rural schools of Cedar Township. As a young man he spent eight years in various occupations in the west, in Alaska and the Philippines. He enlisted in the army in World War I, and served 27 months overseas with the Second division, 9th Infantry.

His marriage to Mary Nelson took place on April 27, 1921 at the Rock Creek Lutheran parsonage. He and his wife continued to farm in Cedar and Rock Townships, retiring in 1948.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Inez, at home and Mrs. Delmar (Arlene) Rudolph of Janesville, MN; two grandchildren, Darold and Colleen Rudolph of Janesville; and one sister, Mrs. Anna Julien of Osage.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Peter, John, Edward and Christian.
