OBITUARY: Edgar D. Chamberlain, 1863-c1931

This week the McIntire community mourns the loss of a leading citizen in the death of Edgar D. Chamberlain.

Mr. Chamberlain was born in Saratoga, Howard County, Iowa, February 9, 1863. He remained at his birthplace until adult life. In 1887 he was united in marriage to Inez. L. Wheeler. Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlain then made their home on the farm northeast of McIntire. The entire period of their married life was spent here with the exception of seven years in Austin, Minnesota.

Mr. Chamberlain had been ill and more or less confined to his home, for 4 or 5 years. During the past weeks his sickness took a more serious turn and he passed away Monday forenoon, January 19, 1931.

For nearly forty years Mr. Chamberlain was a member of the Baptist Church, and was prominent in church work as well as things of community enterprise. His interest in things spiritual was a source of inspiration, and all who knew him had every reason to regard him a Christian gentleman.

Among those of the immediate relatives surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Inez Chamberlain; three children, Mrs. Hazel Ralph, Sac City, Iowa; Mrs. Zella Trezona, Rowley, Iowa; Norton Chamberlain, McIntire. There are also three brothers and five sisters, as follows: Fred Chamberlain, South Bend, Indiana; Horace, Rocky Ford, Colorado; Bertha, Berkely, California; Mrs. Laura Schoonover, Laurens, Iowa; Nelson Chamberlain, Springfield, Missouri; Mrs. Mae Penney, Manzanola, Colorado; Alice Chamberlain, Helena, Montana; Mrs. Von Lubken, Hood River, Oregon.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 21, at 2 o'clock from the spacious family residence near McIntire, conducted by W.G. Taylor, pastor of the Baptist church, assisted by Mr. E. Bodenham.

Interment was made in the Wayne Cemetery.
