Maxine I. Miller, 1928-1997
MASON CITY, IOWA -- Maxine I. Miller, 69, 829 12th St. S.E., died Thursday, August 28, 1997, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. James B. Norem of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is in charge of arrangements.
Maxine was born April 2, 1928, in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, the daughter of William L. and Mathilda M. (Dieterich) Lonergan. She was baptized and confirmed at the Osage Lutheran Church. She was raised in Mitchell County and attended schools in Mitchell, Osage and Orchard before moving to Mason City with her parents in 1945.
Maxine married Darold Miller on April 19, 1947, at the Radio Chapel in Mason City.
Maxine was a longtime resident of Mason City and a member of the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and sewing.
Survivors include her husband, Darold Miller, Mason City; daughters, Carolyn Miller, Mason City, and Wendy Hegtvedt and her husband, Mike, Mason City; sons, Rick Miller, Mason City, and Jim Miller and his wife, Carla, of Mason City; seven grandchildren, Damon Torres, Stacy and Amy Hegtvedt, Kelly, Jeremy, Jordan and Madison Miller; one great-grandchild, Melissa Mae Torres; brother, William Lonergan, Rose Creek, Minn.; sister, Ila Ebbers, Mason City; brother, Charles E. Lonergan, Westwood, Calif.; brother, Neil Lonergan, Amery, Wis.; sister, Dora Weiland, Mason City; sister, Bertha Flatness, Mason City; and brother, Mahlon Lonergan, of Rose Creek, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three grandchildren.
