Funeral services for Michael Mayer, 85, will be held Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock at Visitation church, Stacyville, the Rev. Father H. N. Manternach officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was born September 16, 1859, at Johnsburg, Illinois. He leaves seven children. For half a century he operated farms near Stacyville. He formed several partnerships in real estate ventures, buying and selling farms. He also operated the Stacyville hotel known as the French House for several years.

Two weeks ago he underwent a major operation at a hospital at Mason City and died Sunday.

Note: * Michael Mayer married Barbara Rauen.
