OBITUARY: Ida (Anderson) Betts Lindley, 1886-1942
Mrs. Henry Lindley died last Friday afternoon after an illness of about a month. She suffered a stroke of paralysis December 14th and the two that followed, the last of January 6th, terminated her life on January 8, 1942 at the age of 56 years.
The deceased was born Ida Anderson in Jacksonville Township, Chickasaw County, Iowa, on July 15, 1886 to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Anderson. The days of her youth were spent there. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Jericho, Iowa, and was married there to John E. Betts in 1907. To them were born the following children: Arthur Betts, of Osage; Marshall, of Waterloo; Andrew, of Farmington, MI; Mrs. Melvin (Adelaide) Lindley, of Waterloo; Mrs. Don (Josephine) Shrode, of Rock Falls, Iowa; Gladys and Ervin, at home.
All of the children came when their mother's condition became alarming and remained until after the funeral services.
On October 5, 1927 Ida was married to Henry Lindley, of Mitchell County, and to them one son, Hilding Lindley, was born. He and his father also survive her, as do four brothers and six sisters: Ole, John, Alfred and Leonard Anderson; Anne Mae, Gladys, Mrs. Peter (Martha) Ronnei, Mrs. Louis (Josephine) Douglas, and Mrs. Lou (Carrie) Betts. There are also two grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters who died in infancy, and a grandchild.
Funeral services were held January 11, 1942 at the Champion Funeral Home and at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, with burial in the Osage cemetery beside her first husband. The Rev. C. Blaine Gunderson officiated.
