Death: Jun. 3, 2008, Cedar Falls, Black Hawk County, Iowa.

Veteran of World War II.

Wayne G. Jensen, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, June 3, at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

He was born September 7, 1920 in St. Ansgar, son of James and Clara (Priem) Jensen. He married Eleanore Gravesen on December 31, 1953 in Cedar Falls. She died October 29, 2001.

Mr. Jensen was a graduate of St. Ansgar High School and a 1942 graduate of St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota. He attended the University of Notre Dame for U.S. Navy Officer's Training and commanded an LCT during the invasion of Europe at the Normandy front. He also was captain of LST 1051 in the Pacfic theater of operations. After the war, he worked for Iowa Securities Corp./Banco Mortgage for more than 30 years.

He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Cedar Falls Historical Society, and Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, and was a member of Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49, and Cedar Falls American Legion Post 237.

Survived by two sons, Jim and Erick, both of Cedar Falls; and two grandchildren, Erin and Austin Jensen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Public visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls, Black Hawk County, Iowa.
