ORCHARD - Robert William Lack, 85, formerly of Orchard, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Congregational, United Church of Christ in Orchard with the Rev. William Griffee officiating. Interment will be in Orchard Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, 702 State St., Osage.
Robert was born east of Orchard on the Pine-Lack farm July 30, 1916, the son of Horatio and Grace (Squier) Lack. He was a lifelong resident of the Orchard community.
Bob was a baptized member of the First Congregational, United Church of Christ in Orchard. He attended the Orchard School and graduated with the class of 1934. Bob participated in baseball and basketball and enjoyed following the Orchard teams until the school closed.
After high school, he was engaged in farming. In 1938 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Mark. They made their home on the farm where Robert was born until 1942, when they moved to the farm north of Orchard. He resided there until his hospitalization this summer. To this union, one son, Francis Craig Lack was born. Dorothy passed away in 1974.
On January 14, 1978, Bob was united in marriage to Vera Weydert. Vera had two children, Kathy and Greg whom he enjoyed very much.
Robert is survived by his wife, Vera Lack of Orchard; his grandson, Christopher Matthew Lack of St. Joseph, Mo.; great-granddaughter, Cassandra Paige Lake-Gabriel of St. Joseph, Mo.; a brother, Harold Lack of Orchard; a sister, Marilyn Larson and her husband, Philip, of Mission, Texas; two stepchildren, Kathy Todd of Atlanta, Ga., and Greg Weydert of Warner Robins, Ga.; and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; a son, F. Craig; his parents; four brothers, John, Howard, Julian and an infant brother, H. Raymond; and two sisters, Bessie Lack Ford and Blanche Lack Tresemer.
