OBITUARY: Lorraine Dorothy (Ketelsen) Brush, 1917-2005
Lorraine Brush, 87, formerly of Osage, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 in Grants Pass, Oregon.
Lorraine was born and raised in Mitchell County, Iowa, and moved West in 1943. She lived and worked in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho for 49 years. She worked as a secretary and office manager until her retirement in 1977. After her husband, Avery Brush, also formerly of Osage, died in 1992, she moved to Livermore, Calif. She lived there for 10 years before moving to Grants Pass, Oregon, in 2003.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy English and son-in-law Ed English of Grants Pass, Ore., granddaughters Amy Sessums of Springfield, Ore., and Katy Kendall of Carson City, Nev., and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Avery S. Brush, December, 1992.
A memorial service was held June 4th at Hull and Hull Funeral Chapel in Grants Pass, Oregon.

Lorraine Dorothy Ketelsen was born August 18, 1917 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa to August Jurgen Ketelsen and Anna Maria Arp, the youngest of their five children.
She was baptized and confirmed at Osage Lutheran Church, Osage, Iowa and graduated from Osage High School.
Found in the 1920 - 1930 censuses at Burr Oak, Mitchell, Iowa:
1920: August J. Ketelsen 47, Annie Ketelsen 44, Henry Ketelsen 20, Wilma Ketelsen 19, Mary Ketelsen 17, Elmer Ketelsen 10, Lorraine Ketelsen 2 yrs 9 mos.
1925: August Ketelson 52, Annie Ketelson 49, Hanry Ketelson 26, Alma Ketelson 15, Lorraine Ketelson 7, Ellen Ketelson 20, Fern Ketelson 17.
1930: August Kettetson 58, Anna Kettetson 55, Lorraine Kettetson 12, Elmer Kettetson 21, Gladys Kettetson 22.
Lorraine married Avery Savre Brush on October 15, 1939 at Glenwood, Mills, Iowa.
Wedding announcement from the Mason City Globe Gazette, October 17, 1939:
Lorraine Ketelsen, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. A. J. Ketelsen and Avery Brush, son of Mrs. Cora Brush, were married on October 15th at the home of Mr. Brush's sister, Mrs. Ward French, in Glenwood, Iowa, by the Rev. Mr. Long, pastor of the Congregational church. Mr. & Mrs. Ward French were the only attendants. Following the ceremony, a wedding dinner was served in Omaha, Nebraska. Mr. & Mrs. Brush will be at home in Osage where Mr. Brush has a position in the Osage Farmer's National bank.
Found in the 1940 census living at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa: Avery S Brush 23, Lorraine D Brush 22.
The couple had two children: a daughter and a son (baby boy born/died August 1951 at Seattle, Washington).
Lorraine died May 31, 2005 at Grants Pass, Josephine, Oregon and is inurned at Forest Cemetery, Couer d' Alene, Kootenai, Idaho.
