Death: Dec. 17, 2002 Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas.

Ronnie G. Hutzell, 52, Topeka, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Hutzell had been a computer programmer for the state of Kansas for 15 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was born April 16, 1950, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Donald and Ruth Nodland Hutzell. He moved to Topeka from Mason City, Iowa, 21 years ago.

Mr. Hutzell was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a former member of Knights of Columbus Council No.4254 and the James Gibbons Assembly of the 4th Degree.

He married Nancy Menke on Dec. 22, 1972, in Bancroft, Iowa. They later divorced.

Survivors include a son, Adam Hutzell, Atchison; a daughter, Gretchen Hutzell, Topeka; two brothers, Don Hutzell, Marble Rock, Iowa, and Curt Hutzell, Atlanta; two sisters, Shirley Darcy, Fairmont, Minn., and Barb Carter, Yankton, S.D.; and two granddaughters.

Cremation is planned. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Iowa. Relatives and friends will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the Ronnie G. Hutzell Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.

TOPEKA, KANSAS - Ronnie G. Hutzell, 52, of Topeka, died on Tuesday, December 17, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Hutzell received an associate of arts degree from North Iowa Area Community College, had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and had previously been a computer programmer for the State of Kansas for 15 years.

He was born April 16, 1950, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Donald and Ruth (Nodland) Hutzell.

Mr. Hutzell had lived in Topeka for 21 years, coming from Mason City, Iowa. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4254 and the James Gibbons Assembly of the 4th degree, all in Topeka.

He married Nancy Menke on Dec. 22, 1972, in Bancroft, Iowa. They later divorced.

Survivors include one son, Adam Hutzell, of Atchison, Kansas; daughter, Gretchen Hutzell, of Topeka, Kansas; two brothers, Don Hutzell, of Marble Rock, Iowa, and Curt Hutzell, of Atlanta, Georgia.; two sisters, Shirley Darcy, of Fairmont, Minn., and Barb Carter, of Yankton, S.D.; and two granddaughters, Samantha Cabera and Kayla Hutzell.

Mr. Hutzell will be cremated. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW Sixth St. in Topeka, Kansas, with a parish prayer service to be held at 7 p.m.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday at the Most Pure of Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 17th and Stone in Topeka. Inurnment will be at a later date in Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronnie G. Hutzell Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 S.W. Sixth St. Topeka, KS 66603-3183.
