OBITUARY: Klar, Martin George, 1896-1966

FUNERAL MONDAY FOR MARTIN G. KLAR

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for a retired Osage farmer, Martin Klar, 70, who died Saturday (May 7, 1966) at Mitchell County Memorial hospital. Mr. Klar had been in failing health for two years.

The Rev. Robert Smith, pastor of the Methodist church, was in charge of the services at the Champion Funeral Home. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.

Martin George Klar was born near Dysart, February 26, 1896, the son of Paul and Catherine Klar.

He moved with his family to a farm near Osage in 1922. He attended school in Dysart and was a student at Cedar Valley seminary in Osage.

His marriage to Grace Kelley of Osage took place in December, 1921. They established their home on a farm southwest of Osage where he lived continuously for 54 years. Mr. and Mrs. Klar moved from the farm to their present home in Osage last October.

Mr. Klar was active in community affairs, serving on the school board and on the board of the Farm Bureau.

Surviving are his wife, Grace, Lathrop, Jean, of Osage; Mrs. Beryl Griner, Darlene, of Cedar Falls; one son, Luverne of Mankato; one brother John Klar of Springfield, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Tessie Bower of St. Ansgar; and Mrs. Lynn Morse of Charles City. Eight grandchildren also survive.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one infant daughter.
