Kenneth Evans

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 10, 1995 at 2 p.m. at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Riceville for Kenneth Evans, 78, of Riceville. Reverend Robert Pfell, officiating and burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery south of Riceville. He died Sunday, May 7, 1995 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Care Center.

Kenneth was born October 11, 1916 near McIntire, Iowa, the son of George and Eliza (Playle)Evans. He attended and graduated from McIntire School.

On March 25, 1940, he married Mildred Recker at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Riceville and they farmed near McIntire for over 20 years. He served for many years as a 4-H leader. In 1964 they moved to Osage where he managed the Shell Station. Over the next years he worked at the John Deer Implement Store, Plaza Filling Station, Maple Manor Nursing Home and also farmed near Osage. In 1988, they retired to Riceville where he worked on cars and enjoyed his family. Kenney was also active in the community.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and one brother, Clifford.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred of Riceville, two sons, Larry and his wife Susan of Mason City, Gene and his wife, Deb of Osage and one daughter Bonnie and husband Gene Schwake of Edina, Minnesota, eight grandsons, one granddaughter and a host of great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mildred Stephens of Cameron, Missouri, Golda Wentworth of Brownsdale, Minnesota, Helen Larson of Ostrander, Minnesota and Dorothy and husband Harold Jone of LeRoy, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
