Death of Mrs. Albert Bush
"The air is full of farewells to the dying." The poet said this in connection with the other thought of one vacant chair at every fireside. And so we find it. There are sad hearts about us because of loved ones gone from us. Mrs Albert Bush, departed from this life April 2nd, 1897. She had been in poor health for several years. Since the death of her son two years ago, she had gradually failed, and the end was not unexpected. Augusta Haskell was born in Chautaugua county, N. Y., April 30, 1830. She received a good education in the common schools and taught several years in her native state.
In 1851 she was married to Albert Bush and came to Iowa the same year. They settled first at Strawberry Point, later lived in and near Lamont and in 1876 came to Osage, where Mr. Busch died in 1892.
She leaves three children, Orlando H., of South Dakota, Mrs Hattie Austin, and Mrs. Flora Morse, both living near this city.
Two children died in infancy. Alfred M., the oldest son, died two years ago, sixteen months after the death of his father.
Early in life Mrs. Bush united with the church and she continued her love for God and his people until the time of her death. In health she was one of the most earnest, faithful, and consistent members, and many are the facts given of her zeal and love for the Master and His work. She was particularly interested in the cause of missions and personally sacrificed to aid this part of the Lord's work.
With the early settlers she endured the hardships and trials of those pioneer days, with a spirit and determination that told of the character she possessed. The pastor spoke comforting words to the friends from John 14, 1-3. She has gone to her reward, and to the rest that remaineth for the people of God.
She has passed through the portals where her Savior passed before her, and sorrowing friends know that is is well with her soul. She is with us no more, but the influence of her kindly spirit through the years and her memory will still be with us and we shall recall her to our minds as one whom we all loved.
