LEO FRANCIS JOHNSON 1910-1999
PLYMOUTH, IOWA - Leo Francis Johnson, 89, died Saturday (June 5, 1999) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Plymouth, with the Rev. Thomas McAndrew officiating. Burial will be in the Bohemian Cemetery, Plymouth.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
Leo Francis Johnson was born Feb. 6, 1910, in rural Mason City, the son of Byron and Theresa (Hovel) Johnson.
He was united in marriage to Josephine Falk on Nov. 21, 1934, at Stacyville. They lived on a farm in the Plymouth area for more than 50 years, from 1934 to present. He was the president of the Bohemian Cemetery Board for many years, and always enjoyed giving visitors to Plymouth the tour of the town, the "cook's tour."
Those left to cherish his memory are three sons, James and wife, Coralee Johnson, Mason City, Richard and his wife, Marlene, Plymouth, and Thomas and his wife, Julie Johnson, Dougherty; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Josephine, in April 1999; a daughter, Betty Berhow, in 1968; one granddaughter, Julie Johnson, in 1976; two brothers; and one sister.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Leo Johnson Memorial Fund in care of the family.
