OBITUARY: Carsten Jensen, 1874-1940
Carsten Jensen, son of Ingvar and Ingeborg Jensen, was born at Dorpun, Germany on June 14, 1874. Coming to the United States in 1892 he located at Clay Center, OH, and later coming to Iowa, located on a farm in Cedar Township in Mitchell County. On this place he continued to live until a few months ago when he moved to Nora Springs, Iowa. Mr. Jensen has for many years been an active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church.
The departed brother has also been an exceptionally strong man until about a year ago when his failing health compelled him to give up farming. During the last year he submitted to an operation at Rochester but it brought no recovery.
He died at Mercy Hospital, Mason City, Iowa, on June 7, 1940, the cause of his death being cancer. During the last months he has been suffering greatly, but met it all in the spirit of full resignation to the Lord's will.
The following near relatives survive: his widow Catherine, and five children: Martin from his first marriage, and from his second marriage, Mrs. Budd Marshall of Nora Springs; Olga, of Chicago; Mrs. Ivan Felix, of Rudd; Mrs. Clifford McKee of Osage; also six grandchildren, one brother, Peter of Mason City, and one sister, Mrs. Marie Hansen of Clay Center, Ohio.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre at the home in Nora Springs and at Rock Creek Lutheran Church near Osage. Burial was made in the Rock Falls cemetery.
