OSAGE, IOWA - Sonja Angell, 72, of Osage died Tuesday (Feb. 9, 2010) at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with the Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery at New Haven, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

(Died February 9, 2010)Sonja Angell, age 72, of Osage, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery at New Haven, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Sonja was born July 24, 1937, in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Gertrude (Walstad) Weinschenk. She attended Osage schools and graduated from Osage High School in 1955. Sonja then worked as a telephone operator in Osage. On May 4, 1957, she married Marlow Angell. In January of 1963, they purchased the Osage Cleaners. Sonja worked there until her retirement in 2000. She has been a resident at the Faith Lutheran Home since 2002. Sonja was a life long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Guild, served on the Sacred Heart Board of Education, was a religious education teacher, and was a Sacred Heart youth group leader. She was also a member of Citadel, Osage Firemen’s Auxiliary, the Osage Booster Club, and the Sister City Organization. Sonja served on the American Heart Association Board and was an Osage City Council member. She enjoyed playing softball. Sonja was an avid supporter of all Osage athletics, and especially enjoyed following her sons and grandchildren.
Sonja is survived by her son, Kurt (Marsha) Angell of Osage and their children, Tiffany Angell and Adam Angell; her son, Kent Angell of Osage and his children, Melissa (Marty) Cooper, Travis (Stephanie) Angell, Katie Angell, and Jordan Angell; two brothers, Russell (Janice) Weinschenk of Rochester, Minnesota, Jerome (Laurie) Weinschenk of Mason City; one sister-in-law, Josie Weinshcenk of Allison; one brother-in-law, Ray Card of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marlow Angell; one sister, Colleen Card; and one brother, Marcus Weinschenk.
