Owen Van Buskirk 1922-2010

Owen Dale Van Buskirk, 87, of Osage, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Owen was born on February 22, 1922, in Belmond, Iowa, the son of Loyd and Anna (Brass) Van Buskirk. He graduated from Goodell High School.

Owen married Lillian Chapman on August 21, 1945 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City with Pastor Alvin Rogness officiating. He farmed in Minnesota from 1947 to 1994, after which Owen and Lillian retired to Osage. Owen was a member of EUB Church in Sargeant, Minn. He was also a member of the NFO. He enjoyed mechanics, traveling, visiting, and reading.

Owen is survived by his wife, Lillian Van Buskirk of Osage; his children, Lois (Virgil) Frieden of Bemidji, Minn., Harry Van Buskirk of Sargeant, Minnesota, Harold Van Buskirk of Brownsdale, Minn., Wayne Van Buskirk of Byron, Minnesota, Roy Van Buskirk of Spring Valley, Minnesota, Linda (Wayne) Jorgenson of Sargeant, Minnesota, Gary (Laura) Van Buskirk of Rose Creek, Minnesota, Loyd Van Buskirk of Brownsdale, Minnesota, Paul Van Buskirk of Swea City; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Earline Finn, Carol Lauen, Faye Mewes, Ina Brinkman, and Harriet Baker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Van Buskirk; brothers, Earl Van Buskirk, Gerald Van Buskirk, Russell Van Buskirk; sisters, Audrey Menninga and Loree Yager.

A service will be held at a later date.

Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
