OBITUARY: Ruby (Hvattum) Tebben, 1909-2005

Graveside services for Ruby Hvattum Tebben, age 96, of Fruita, Colorado, and formerly of Osage, Iowa, will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the Osage Cemetery, with the Rev. Roy Ott officiating.

Ruby died Sunday, March 13, 2005 in Fruita.

Ruby was born July 26, 1909 in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Sophia (Amundrud) Hvattum. She graduated from Osage High School and St. Olaf College in North Field, Minn. In 1941, Ruby was the first female accepted in graduate school at the California Institute of Technology.

She married Jurgen Tebben. They farmed in the area until 1952.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, Jurgen Tebben in 1982.

Ruby is survived by two sons Ronald Tebben of Berkeley Springs, W.V. and Gerald Tebben of Elk Horn, Wisc.; a daughter Marlys Barrick of San Diego, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
