(Died February 6, 2010)Kathryn E. Harmon, age 91, of Osage, died Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Pastor Gary Gilbert officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage
Kathryn Elizabeth Kitson Harmon was born January 22, 1919, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Ben Merritt Kitson and Matie R. (Root) Kitson, D.O. Kathryn spent a good part of her life in and around the Osage area. She was baptized and confirmed in the Osage United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, she held various offices in the church and the U.M.W. Kathryn graduated from Osage High School in 1936. She worked at the school and took additional classes as a post graduate one year. In 1937, she went to Iowa State University and graduated in 1941 with a B.S. Degree in Education. She taught for three years in Lake Mills, Iowa, and for five years in Osage as a Vocational Homemaking Teacher. On November 26, 1949, she married Ross E. Harmon and they made their home on a farm in Burr Oak Township. They had three daughters. In 1984, they retired to Osage. Kathryn belonged to the Osage V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 7920 and held several different chairmanships. She was also an active member of the Little Cedar United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, crocheting and playing cards. Kathryn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Kathryn is survived by three daughters, Linda Lines and fiancé, Jeffrey Mondry of Rudd, Mary Kay Erdmann and husband, Kenneth of Plymouth, Janice Henik and husband, John of Mount Vernon; three grandsons, Brad Lines, Douglas Erdmann and Joshua Henik; three granddaughters, Erin Lines Myers and husband, Jerry, Dawn Erdmann and Kara Henik; and two great-grandsons, McCain and Truman Myers.
She was preceded death by her parents; and her husband, Ross in 2009.
