OBITUARY: Melvin John Mullenbach [1928-2001]
A rosary followed by a Memorial Mass was held August 17, 2001 at St. Margaret Mary Church in Tucson, Arizona for Melvin John Mullenbach, age 73, of Tucson. Father Gilbert Levario officiated. Carrillo Tucson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. He died August 14, 2001 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Mitchell County to Fred and Bertha (Huemann) Mullenbach. Melvin was a dairy farmer southwest of Osage and northeast of New Haven. In 1950 he married Marie Sonberg and had four children. After moving to Tucson in 1960 he worked for a private water company. In 1979 he and his wife, moved to Kansas Settlement near Wilcox, Arizona. It was later affectionately named 'Camp Wilcox' by his eight granddaughters and one grandson. There they started a hog ranch and Melvin raised purebred Charlois cattle which were his pride and joy.
Preceding him in death were his father; and two brothers, Gervase and Harold Mullenbach.
Those that survive him include his 105 year old mother, Bertha Mullenbach of Osage; his wife of 51 years Marie Mullenbach of Tucson; his two sons, Arnold (Nancy) Mullenbach and children, Andrea, Alicia and Adam of Tucson, AZ; Fred (Martha) Mullenbach and children, Jovanna, Lavenna, Milan and Halezka of Georgetown, TX; two daughters, Nancy (Walter) Klein of Tucson; Susan (Tom) Moorehead and children Kristen and Kelly of Tucson, AZ; his sister, Marcelline (Tim) Kisner of Osage; two brothers, Germaine (Helen) of Ames and Laverne (Bonnie) of Osage; sister-in-law Mildred Mullenbach of Osage; and many loving nieces and nephews.
