NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Marjorie "Marge" Elizabeth Stiles, 90, died Wednesday (Jan. 27, 2010) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
A funeral service for "Marge" will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, 202 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, with the Rev. Wendy Johanasen officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today Friday, January 29, 2010, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, and continue one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Marjorie "Marge" Stiles Memorial.
Marjorie Elizabeth Vance was born on May 9, 1919, in Mitchell County, the daughter of Clifford and Ethel (Hennick) Vance. Marge graduated from Floyd High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Burton Kuhlmeier on Aug. 27, 1938, in the Little Brown Church, Nashua; to this union three children were born. Marge and Burton farmed in the Rudd and Nora Springs area. She worked at Reuter's Grocery Store for 11 years and the Nora Springs Locker for 12 years; she worked at the Nora Inn as a waitress until the time of her retirement.
On Nov. 11, 1981, her husband Burton passed away and she later was united in marriage to W. Keith Stiles on Aug. 18, 1984, at the First United Methodist Church, Nora Springs.
Marge loved traveling especially to her Florida home, reading, playing cards and tending to her flower gardens. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends. Marge was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Nora Springs, United Methodist Women, past member of the Royal Neighbors of Rudd and past member of the Jolly Rudders of Rudd.
Marge is survived by her children, Colleen (Michael) Shanks, Nora Springs, Diane (John) Conley, Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Connie (Jerry) Kelley, Nora Springs; stepchildren, Carol Albaugh, Rudd, and Linda (Duane) Buchanan, Rudd; grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Smith, Julie (Bradley) Nelson, Brad (Jeannie) Shanks, David (Sherry) Robinson, Cory (Bethany) Robinson, Ryan (Kendra) Kelley, Brandon (Jodi) Kelley; four step grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; siblings, Dale (Maxine) Vance, Floyd, Alvin (Dorothy) Vance, Charles City, and Barbara (Jerry) Sudel, Nashua, sister-in-law, Jean Vance, Charles City; along with several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents; one son born silently; husbands, Burton Kuhlmeier and W. Keith Stiles; brothers, Clair Vance and Earl "Wayne" (Marcella) Vance; and son-in-law, Donald Robinson.
