OSAGE, IOWA - Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Mrs. Ole C. Christianson, 95, lifelong Mitchell County resident, who died Friday at a Mason City nursing home.

Burial was in Rock Creek Cemetery with the Reverend R. M. Christiansen officiating.

The Champion Funeral Home, Osage, was in charge of arrangements.

Marthe Marie Fosholdt was born October 29, 1868 in a log cabin on the Thidemand Thidemansen (also known as Docken) farm just north of Meroa​, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, to Syver Johnsen Fosh​oldt and Martha Marie ​Nielsdatter Lunde, their third child.

Her older siblings were Sigrid Syversdatter Fosholdt (born December 30, 1862 Bragerdokken, Hedalen, Valdres, Buskerud, Norway, married Olaus Halsteinsen Norby at Mitchell Co, Iowa, died March 26, 1940 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa) and John Syversen Fosholdt (born March 5, 1866 Hedalen, Valdres, Buskerud, Norway, died October 26, 1867 at a logging camp at Manistee, Michigan, just a few months after emigrating with his parents to America).

Martha was named after her mother, also named Martha Marie, who died shortly after giving birth to the subject of this obituary page. The mother was the first burial at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery in Meroa. Her item in the IaGenWeb listing for Rock Creek cemetery shows:
"Fosholdt, Martha Marie Bjorkhagen 1868 Lunde".

Martha's father, Syver, remarried in 1874 to Johanna Haraldsdatter Grov and they had eight(8) children: Marith, John, Harold, Ingeborg, Thorvold, Gabriel, Isabelle Ingeborg and Lise Elisabeth.

Martha attended the Rock Creek Lutheran Church and rural schools. She mar​ried Ole Christian Christiansen on December 25, 1902​ at Rock Creek Lutheran, Meroa, Iowa. The couple had no children.

Martha died July ​3, 1964 at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa and was buried at RCLC Cemetery, Meroa, Iowa.

1885: Syren J Foshold 44, Johana Foshold 37, Sarah Foshold 22, Martha M Foshold 16, Mary Foshold 9, John Foshold 7, Harold Foshold 6, Thervald Fosholdt 2, Gabriel Fosholdt 0. 1895: Martha Fssholdt age 26.
1900:Sever Fosholdt 60, Martha Fosholdt 29, Mary Fosholdt 24, John Fosholdt 23, Harold Fosholdt 22, Thoroald Fosholdt 18, Gabriel Fosholdt 16, Ingeborg Fosholdt 14, Lizzie Fosholdt 12.

1920: Ole C Christianson 48, Martha Christianson 52, Torval Tomson 27.

1930: Ole C Christanson 58, Martha M Christanson 61.
