Julia B. Hoover

Julia Bertha Hoover, age 91, of Osage and formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, January 25, 2010, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Rev John Moser officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Moline, Illinois. Visitation is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Julia was born April 11, 1918, in London, Minnesota, the daughter of Camiel and Erma (Verbeke) Hommez. She grew up in Stacyville and moved to Moline, Illinois in 1940. Julia was employed by Eagle Signal Company. On Sept. 29, 1951, she married George Hoover at Moline. She retired from Eagle Signal Company in 1980 after 37 years of employment. Julia moved to the Evergreen Apartments in Osage in May of 2004. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, bowling, playing cards and bingo, spending time with family and especially loved young children.

Julia is survived by two brothers, Louis Hommez of Osage, Francis (Inez) Hommez of Osage; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Hoover in 1977; one brother, Joe; and three sisters, Bertha, Lena, and Mary.
