for Herbert McCulla

Herbert McCulla, 85, passed away at the Chautauqua Home in Charles City on Sunday August 3rd [1969]. Herbert Lindsay "Mac" McCulla was born near Lyle, Minnesota on November 20, 1883, to Alexander McCulla and Ina nee White McCulla. He lived the earlier part of his life on a farm, and was educated in the St. Ansgar Public School. On January 1, 1908 he was united in marriage to Vivian L. Mather at St. Ansgar. They moved to his father's farm, where they lived until 1929.

He was then employed at the Mason City Hardware for a few years, and later moved to Osage and worked with the Kingsbury Hardware for several years. They located in Greene where he worked at the Poole Hardware, and later at Mel's TV Service.

On March 1, 1957 his wife Vivian passed away. Mr. McCulla was remarried October 16, 1961 to Mrs. Ella Larson of St. Ansgar.

Survivers include his wife, a step-daughter, Mrs. Raymond Feldt, of Minneapolis, Minn., a sister, Mrs. Vivian L. Bramhall, of Mason City, and several nieces and nephews.

Burial was in the family plot at the St. Ansgar Cemetery, with Reid's Funeral Chapel in charge.

NOTES: His second wife was the former Ella (Elinora) Gustava Gunderson, who had been married to Peter Larson. Ella was the daughter of John Tormoen Gunderson and Barbro Sagabraaten Knudsdatter (Thorson).
